Programme Overview:
The Master in Education (Teaching of English as a Second Language) programme is designed in line with the latest, interactive and innovative developments to enhance students’ scholarship in the field of TESL. The post – graduate students would be experiencing learning the advanced coursework subjects and they would also be able to expertise in conducting researches in various dimensions in TESL. This programme is ideal for those who want to gain a specialized knowledge in teaching English.
Students will be learning the core principles of teaching and learning the English language, teaching methodologies in TESL, literature in TESL, theories and practices in TESL, pedagogy and researches in TESL, as well as skills in conducting research. At ALFA University College, we believe our graduates are shaped into being ‘A Leader for All”, and this specially tailored programme will be an added value for those who has passion towards the English language and further inspires them to be a comprehensive society for the betterment of the nation.
Entry Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree [Level 6, Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF)] in a business-related field with a minimum of GPA of 2.50 / 4.00 or equivalent qualifications as accepted by the Senate; OR
- Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) recognised by the Government of Malaysia; OR
- A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in a business-related field with CGPA below 2.50 out of 4.00 or its equivalent qualifications may be accepted, subject to a minimum of 5 years of working experience; OR
- Applicant without qualification in the related fields or working experience in the relevant fields must undergo appropriate pre-requisite courses determined by the HEP and meet the minimum CGPA.
Additional Requirements (For International Students)
- Minimum Band 4 in Malaysian University English Test (MUET) or equivalent to The Common European Framework (CEFR) (Mid B2): OR
- Minimum score of 60 in Internet-Based Test (IBT) or equivalent score for Paper-Based Test (PBT) for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); OR
- Minimum score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS); OR
- Minimum score of 59 for Pearson English Test; Other equivalent qualification.
- A medical check-up in Malaysia arranged by ALFA certifies that you are medically fit and in good health to accept the offer. The university reserves the rights to withdraw this offer or terminate your study if you are found to suffer or be a carrier of any contagious/ infectious disease, or have a medical condition requiring continuous medical care that will adversely affect your study at ALFA.
